I am Courtney: Black Woman. Jamaican-American. Mom. Social Worker. Therapist. Educator. Daughter. Friend. As you can see, the list is endless. There are many hats worn and multiple roles filled, but the priority of all of that is me. It took a while to figure that out—take care of yourself first to be able to care for others, but I did and now I am here to teach you how to do the same. I am a New Jersey-based, Licensed Clinical Social Worker and the owner of Black Women’s Wellness Co.™ and Courtney Chanel LLC. I focus my time and energy on promoting the mental health and wellness education of Black Millennials, students, and their families. It drives the work that I do to be able to connect with our community and support our healing.
I believe that if millennials understand mental health and wellness, then we can bridge the gap between generations.
Angelica has always been deeply passionate about helping others. Her personal experiences with trauma and seeking mental health treatment illuminated the disparities and lack of representation for Black women in the mental health field. This realization motivated her to pursue higher education, earning both a Master of Social Work and a Masters in Education with a concentration in Human Sexuality. She has since dedicated herself to providing therapy for individuals in the greater Philadelphia area.
Angelica has held a special commitment to supporting Black women throughout her career. She uses her expertise to educate Black women about their bodies, fostering positive sexual experiences and promoting pleasure. Angelica has excelled in numerous roles and currently serves as a therapist for combat veterans and military sexual trauma survivors through the VA while also building a thriving private practice.
Angelica is excited to bring her clinical experience and passion to the board at Its Mine Movement, where she looks forward to contributing to its powerful message and advancing this important cause.

I am pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Criminology at Villanova University, with career aspirations centered on advocating for low-income families. I am deeply committed to advancing equitable access to justice and dismantling systemic barriers within the legal system. My academic and personal interests focus on understanding how psychological and social factors shape legal outcomes and decision-making, particularly for marginalized communities. In the long term, I aim to establish initiatives that provide comprehensive legal support and resources for families in need, addressing systemic barriers and fostering environments where individuals and communities can thrive. By leveraging leadership, advocacy, and research, I aspire to create a more just and equitable society.
